Microbial Fuel Cell

Mobile Bioenergy Lab

L.A.S.T. Festival 2014, The Lab, San Francisco, October 2014

This first iteration of the Mobile Bioenergy Lab was exhibited as part of the Life/Art/Science/Technology (LAST) Festival in San Francisco. It consisted of a formal gallery installation as well as workshops on constructing microbial fuel cells. One of the workshops consisted of street event where a cart was taken through the Mission District neighborhood of San Francisco, gathering fruit and vegetable waste from local vendors and engaging in demonstrations and discussions with passers-by. The collected waste was then used as the biological media for constructing MFC systems.
